He Tangata, he whenua.
It is people, it is land.
In Aotearoa New Zealand, Pinot Noir is liquid affirmation of a close relationship between people and their land.
We treasure that closeness. We treasure it enough to reckon it’s worthy of a good hoolie*, hence the Pinot Noir NZ ‘big show’ that is held every four years. This is an occasion like no other, where New Zealand wine producers share the pride they have in their pinot noir with the world.
Rigorous site selection – always a crucial factor – will see Pinot Noir NZ 2021 take place in Christchurch (Ōtautahi), the first time the event will be held in the South Island. For three days (23-25 February 2021), the city will host a temporary community of souls united by a reverence for Pinot Noir and what it means to them. They will engage, listen, taste, give, receive and learn. They’ll also have generous helpings of fun.
- hoolie n. colloq. a wild party
