International Winemakers

International Winemakers

So, you’re an International Pinot Noir winemaker and you want to come to Pinot Noir NZ?!

Easy peasy. While you can’t show your wines, you can network and immerse yourself into one of the most significant Pinot events on the planet.

Pinot Noir NZ is only held once every four years and will be a unique opportunity to understand the landscape of new world Pinot Noir. The four days in Wellington are a sort of vortex into which ideas and people get thrown. None of us ever re-enter the normal world quite the same!

It’s a guaranteed thought-provoking, idea challenging time, full of possible cognitive dissonance and doubt.  Everything gets fermented, pulled apart and put back together, cheered on by some of the greatest wine brains on the planet. We’re talking Jancis Robinson OBE MW,, Kenichi Ohashi MW, Mike Bennie and even musician/winemaker Maynard James Keenan. All in all over 25 speakers, 117 of NZ’s best Pinot Noir producers and 500 delegates.

We’d love to have you join us.

Obviously it’s a long way to come for just three days so how about adding The Southern Pinot Workshop which happens in the lead up to Pinot 17 to your itinerary? Based on the Steam Boat Pinot Noir Conference in Oregon, this is a technical conference which allows you to put your own wines forward for evaluation by the attendees and invited speakers.  This happens from Sunday 22nd January to Wednesday January 25th  (Pinot17 starts on Tuesday 31st January).

Let us know if you need inspiration to fill in the gap, but we’d suggest a sojourn to the Rugby Sevens, a visit to our Pinot regions, throwing yourself off a mountain, maybe visiting Hobbiton or potentially all of those things!

Please feel free to contact us if you need any further information, it would be an honour to have you join us for the biggest Pinot discussion on the planet in 2017.

The Southern Pinot Noir Workshop 22-25 January 2017

The Pinot Workshop is in its 26th year and will be held once again at the Heritage Hotel, Hanmer Springs, (1.5 hours north west of Christchurch).

This is an excellent opportunity for Pinot Winemakers and Viticulturists to taste unfinished wines and get objective criticism and free advice on vineyard issues and winemaking techniques.  You’re encouraged to bring a faulty wine to get advice on how best to correct it before bottling with insights on how to prevent the issue in the future.  Their guest speaker this year is world-renowned soil scientist, Dr Emmanuel Bourguignon.  He will participate in the entire workshop giving you an opportunity to learn from his wealth of experience.
